Jewish Council of the Emirates

Our members practice all denominations of Judaism and come from all over the world. Some of us have been living in the UAE for decades. Our community can be traced back to around 2009, when we started as a small, informal group of families meeting for holiday meals. In 2014 we began our regular minyan, and we’ve been growing ever since.

The JCE had the honor of being invited to contribute a chapter to the landmark book “Celebrating Tolerance: Religious Diversity in the United Arab Emirates,” published by the UAE’s Ministry of Tolerance in 2019. The UAE’s tolerance efforts continue to this day, and are an important part of the government’s focus. We recall the UAE’s proud heritage, which lives on in the diverse country that it is today.

“The world today needs universal human values to be promoted for the sake of future generations.”
– His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces
“We need to study, teach, and practice tolerance and to instill it in our children, both through education and our own example.”
– His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
